Ray Jordan awards Pinot Noir 94/100
Ray Jordan Wine Guide 2011
Matilda's Estate Pinot Noir 2009
"Excellent pinot that must be among the best these guys have produced. Spicy funky aromas with a distinct sour cherry and light cedariness... this is a pinot with structure that will support medium term cellaring. Excellent stuff."
Thanks, Ray. We totally agree with you.

2009 James Halliday Wine Companion
Matildas Estate receives 4 Star Winery Rating
Brilliant straw-green; a stylish wine with a tightly focused
varietal display of nectarine and grapefruit;
oak held in restraint.
Shiraz 2007 - 91 points
Fragrant spicy cool-grown style, light- to medium bodied,
but has both intensity and length to its mix of
red and black fruit flavours.
Cabernet Merlot Franc 2007 - 91 points
Light, but vivid crimson-purple; bright red fruits and
snow pea notes attesting to cool growing conditions;
silky tannins adorn the finish.
Pinot Noir 2007 - 90 points
A juicy, tangy wine with faint nuances of citrus and mint
behind its primary cherry and plum fruit;
has good mouthfeel and length.
Classic White 2008 - 89 points
Bright, light green-straw; unusual blend (Chardonnay/Semillon)
in cool climates, but works well in a breezy, citrussy style;
minerally acidity finishes the palate well.

Vintage 2009
Cellar Notes from Matildas...
Its been a very exciting year for us at Matilda's. The highlight of which would have to be having officially opened our state of the art contract winery facility in 2008. This has allowed us to have complete creative control over our wines, all the way from the vines to the crushing and bottling of the final product.
Much to our delight as well , our 2007 Pinot Noir was awarded 4.5 stars by Winestate Magazine and named Best in its Category. Similarly our 2008 Chardonnay was awarded 4 stars and came highly recommended. We are thrilled to see our hard work and dedicaton to our wines - which we consider to be our work of art - being acknowledged and praised.
Vintage 2009 thus far, has been as demanding and challenging as previous years, pushing us to
dig a little deeper in our quest to continue to produce world class boutique wines. Our whites are all showing good clean, crisp acidity and bursting with fruit flavours, this thanks to some unusually cool nights and mornings during January and February. Our reds look set to impress with some elegent full bodied flavours and some excellent deep crimson, inky colours.
We look foward as well to hosting some proposed wine evenings at our cellar door during winter - with a warm crackling fire and some big bold velvety reds - we will surely keep you all posted and updated on any events.
For now thats all the news we have, but watch this space, we have some suprises in store...
Best Wishes

Matildas Festival 18th January 2009
Michael Chapman will be headlining the Matildas Music festival on 18th January 2009. Michael is a UK based folk/blues singer/songwriter who has toured Australia many times.
Reviews include:-
"The songs would have been more than enough on their own, but I think I'm on safe ground when I rave about his playing. The bluff Yorkshire folk/blues singer transformed into an intense, gifted guitar player. So intense that you could loose yourself in his playing. Pieces like "Wellington Skellington" about his dog no less, and the beautiful La Madrugada - a slice of sensual classic guitar, revealed a playing talent that can only be described as "awesome" " Berwick Advertiser.
Michael Chapman will be supported by Denmark's "Shaky Reed and Alan Keys Trio"

The Origin
The origin of Matilda's Estate was an 150 acre of apple orchards set in Denmark, Western Australia.
In late 1980’s, Pam and Don Turnbull acquired the property, christened it Matilda’s Meadow and began the planting of dry grown vines, which include Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz.
Brenden Smith of West Cape Howe Wines was the first winemaker of Matilda's grapes. Matilda's wine was the first wine to have been produced at West Cape Howe.
